About

Our promise, our method.

What this is

Understand Islam introduces Islam to non-Muslims through knowledge, not pressure. Free forever, funded as a sadaqah jariah. No ads. No paywalls. No data selling.

Our principles

  • We never push conversion. Conversion is not a metric we track.
  • We never ridicule other beliefs. Comparative content states facts respectfully.
  • We present sourced, contextual facts. Quran and authentic Hadith cited with context.
  • We meet you where you are. Your journey starts from your worldview.
  • Transparency builds trust. Our methodology is public.
  • Hidayah — guidance — belongs to Allah. Our job is only to remove barriers to understanding.

Sourcing

Every claim in a module or misconception links back to a source: the Quran (cited as Surah:Ayah), authentic Hadith (with collection and number), or a named scholar with citation. Context — when a verse was revealed, what a hadith is responding to — is included, not omitted.

How your path is built

When you begin, three quick questions — why you're here, your current worldview, and how much you already know — shape the order of what you see. Everyone gets the same universal Foundations (who God is in Islam, who Muhammad was, what the Quran is), but the rest is reordered for you: a skeptic is offered the rational tradition early, someone from a Christian background is offered Jesus and Mary, someone with a Muslim partner gets everyday practicalities first. Nothing is locked. You can browse any path, in any order, at any time.

How we handle the hard questions

The topics people actually wonder about — jihad, women, sharia, violence, science, other faiths — are not buried. Each is laid out in three parts: the claim as it's usually stated, the fact that corrects or complicates it, and the context with sources. We don't dodge, and we don't pretend Islam or Muslims are above criticism. Two things can be true at once: a tradition can teach something beautiful and some of its followers can fall short of it. Our only aim is that whatever you conclude, you conclude it from accurate information rather than a caricature.

Written for every worldview

This app starts from your worldview, not ours. Whether you come from a Christian, Jewish, Hindu, Buddhist, atheist, agnostic or simply curious starting point, there is a path that meets you where you are — naming genuine common ground before it ever names a difference, and stating differences with respect rather than contempt.

What we deliberately don't do

  • We don't track conversions. It is not a metric, a funnel step, or a goal anywhere in this product.
  • We never surface 'how to convert', visiting a mosque, or the declaration of faith unless you explicitly ask for them.
  • We avoid the hard-sell aesthetic on purpose — calm and neutral, so the design itself never pressures you.
  • We don't run ads or sell your data. The app is funded as a sadaqah jariah (an ongoing charity), free forever.

Scholarly review

Content is reviewed by a credentialed scholar before publication. Reviewer name pending — this will be updated with a named, credentialed reviewer before launch.

The AI Guide

The Guide is grounded in this app's content. It is instructed to be respectful, factual, and to never proselytize or disparage other beliefs. It cites its sources. It will tell you when it doesn't know something.
